The art of online

For the first official post here at approvingly lounging, I thought I’d share some links to beautiful websites, and list some of the best places to go for online inspiration. The work above is ‘Rebus’ by Robert Rauschenberg, brought to my attention by the beautiful site for Color Charts, an exhibition at New York’s MoMA. I found it at irie, ‘the international webdesign and flash showcase’.

Other sites that are full of great sites are The Favourite Website Awards, Beautifully and Communication Arts.

Most of the sites are either commercially-driven, or by an artist or graphic designer, and just browsing through a load of them is truly inspiring. I’ve saved a number of online advertising sites here on my delicious.

And this new TV spot for Volkswagen aims to show the care they have taken in its construction, in an innovative way.

Nick and I will aim to update this blog regularly, and as we both like tumblr so much, we’ve got our own ones too! Nick’s is called Don’t tell my mum, and mine is (rather pretentiously) called Presentism.

So enjoy, and if you have anything to share or anything you’d like to see, just holler at us.

/Tom
